Buy Original Art

I stopped by Whole Foods today to grab a kombucha and the cashier said it looked like pond water. I laughed when he said it but inside I was like, “how dare you take the Lord’s name in vain”. Or, something like that.

But then I told my friend this exact story and he asked, “what’s in kombucha?”, and I replied, “chia seeds, kombucha, chlorophyll”, and he says, “so it is pond water”. Haters gonna hate.

Guess what? I bought art! Last weekend during our Westcliffe visit we also visited lovely Salida, CO, another beautiful mountain town! You can kayak, hike, mountain bike, go whitewater rafting, camp, play, laugh, eat, and cruise historic downtown which is filled with adorable shops. We were window shopping when suddenly I approached an art gallery and freaked out at what I saw.

It’s called the Art and Salvage Gallery in Salida, CO. The artist’s name is Jess Vogel. She doesn’t have a website. She’s totally off the grid which, I think, gives her even more street cred. She paints on old windows. I walked in and out of this store a total of three times before I finally decided on a piece. The piece I chose isn’t in this photo. You’re just going to have to wait until I find the perfect spot to hang it in my home. Buying original art makes me feel very grown-up and sophisticated. Which I’m not, really. I drink pond water.

What type of art do you love?
